The Internet of things (IoT)

 Internet of Things (IoT)

Network of physical objects that are connected to the internet allowing them to send, receive and exchange data. Now in digital world we can make everything take to each other. We can make our phones talk to each other, We can make Facebook talk to each other. But In the physical world not to much. This is where our lives and technological development kind of stopped.

But now we are able to build a network so, multiple of physical objects your chair, your table, your lounge they are connected to the internet. It allows you to send so you can create and transmit, receive so that you can receive and interpret and exchange data, you can have conversation with things around you.

So IoT will allow multiple physical objects, like your chair to be connected to the internet. They can send just how good chairs are to other chairs and you. They can receive just how many people want those damn chairs. They can have conversation with other things that are around that chair.

So, we are entering a very exciting time where we will have chairs, couches pretty much everything that's in your home connected to internet or at least have conversations with the things around you.

Let broke it into 4 sections

Hardware

The hardware is what actually allows us to connect digital items to physical objects. So I can put a device on the door and it will tell me when the door opens. So we have hardware that senses things

Data

we have data, data actually starts to make sense of what all this is. It's the things we push around all the time everyday we don't really think about. We used to push data around in heavy, kinda standardized format. We are seeing a lot of different ways of doing this now.

Now, data is getting leaner. We can say more with less. Data is becoming the universal language. Not any other language, but the universal language of things. What we do once we have that communication, once we have that piece of information? then next part comes that is:

Software

The software is what interprets, it's what controls information. It's what analyzes the information and allow it to do stuff. It's the things that actually take pieces of data from these pieces of hardware and makes it do stuff that is valuable to you.

Connectivity

If all  the stuff above is not connected it wouldn't mean anything. Connectivity of the last 10 years we have seen go from cellular phones that were size of bricks, through to Wi-Fi to ethernet to 2G GSM 4G. Essentially it got cheaper and it has got faster.

More on IoT

We are entering in stage where everything will be connected. The impact of IoT will be $11 trillion a year by 2025 across factories, cities, human, health, work cities, offices, vehicles.

Why now? Because of the ultra low cost of the hardware, high availability of resources, the low level of difficulty to compile them and put them together and highly digital and connected universe that is driving us toward not just connecting our digital space in our digital lives, but our physical space and the things we actually deal with everyday.

IoT is the beginning of the new era.

If you want to know more about internet of things (IoT). I want to recommend a book by Mayur Ramgir based on detailed study of Internet of things. I you want this book in discounted price you can buy it by clicking on shop now below.
